AI in the Lab

Artificial intelligence is becoming a powerful tool in scientific research. AI systems can analyze huge amounts of data, recognize patterns, predict protein structures, and help researchers identify promising drug candidates. Instead of having scientists examine every possibility one at a time, AI can help narrow down the possibilities and suggest which experiments may be worth testing.

But AI doesn't replace the laboratory. A computer can predict that a molecule might work or that two proteins could interact, but scientists still need to perform experiments to find out whether those predictions are actually correct. AI can also help researchers optimize protocols or identify ways to make experiments more efficient, but it cannot physically carry out the experiments on its own.

The exciting part is the combination: computers can help researchers decide what to test and how to test it, while experiments determine what actually happens.
